The one thing
Here is a brief breakdown of each of
the sessions during the day. The students will be working in smaller groups and
everyone will have the chance to feedback to the group to gain a little
confidence.
Introductions and objectives (Mix up the group)
A very brief introduction from me
Creative thinking exercise (Small group activity)
A creative activity that I can relate back to during the day. It tests leadership, management, delegation, resilience and decision making
The perfect leader (Small group activity)
Looking at famous leaders and discuss their attributes linking to the top ten traits of a leader
The role of a school prefect (Whole group discussion)
Discussion around the role of a prefect and the benefits from being one
What others need from you (Small group activity)
What other pupils, other prefects and teaching/support staff need from the prefect
Communication Skills (Presentation and Small group activity)
We will look at how people communicate and what to watch for in body language for example
Attitude and Behaviour (Presentation and example to back it up)
Our attitude affects our behaviour, our behaviour affects other people’s attitudes, and their attitudes affect their behaviour
What would you do if…? (Small group activity)
Scenarios they may come up against and how they would deal with the from what they have learnt
The one thing (Individual activity)
Each learner will take away one thing that they will personally work on. This can be a talking point during an after-course catchup meeting
Everyone will have a workbook to complete on the day and refer back to after (present in an interview etc). There is a reflective activity for them to do when they return to school as a prefect and there is the one thing activity which is their own develop commitment that can be referred to by their ‘line manager’ during a catchup meeting in the future.
The cost for the training is £699 for the day (total). As well as delivering this session in schools, I have been volunteering at my local school for the past 7 years supervising their Duke of Edinburg Award Scheme. Part of my role is to go into the school during their training weekend and teach topics like putting up a tent, cooking in the field, first aid, the country code etc, so have plenty of experience training 14+ ages
