Is there one person at work who you just do not get or get
on with? Or someone who approaches things so differently from you that you
struggle to relate to him or her?
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. We all have team
members who we find hard to communicate with or work alongside. And yet, for the
sake of our teams and organisations, we need to make these relationships work.
The good news is there are ways of doing this. A good starting point is to
understand more about your own behaviour, and that of the other person.
Behaviour has been studied for centuries, and this research
has led to various ways of categorising behavioural styles. When you understand
some of these, you will get to know what makes others "tick," and
learn how to get the most from your team members in a way that benefits them as
well as the organisation.
DISC is one of the simplest behavioural tools to understand
and even though you and your team may subscribe to another model, there is no
reason why you can’t introduce another. Your learners will complete a DISC test
paper before the training to save time which will be referred to during the session.
